About Me

About Me

Hello! My name is Macee Genovese and I️ am enrolled in the Concurrent BA/Bed/ECE program at the University of Windsor, in connection with St. Clair College. I️ am currently completing my fourth year of study, and my first year of Teachers College!

Growing up I️ always knew I️ wanted to be an educator. From a young age, I️ have had a deep love for learning and aspired to share that with others. My inspiration comes from many of my teachers inside and outside of the classroom.

When I️ am not at school I️ work as a dance teacher at Edmunds Towers School of Dance. I️ have worked at the dance studio since 2014. I️ also volunteer in elementary and secondary schools across Windsor-Essex preparing dance teams for competitions including; Inspire Dance Challenge and Ontario Secondary School Dance Fest.

I am never happier than when I️ am surrounded by children, learning from them, sharing my knowledge, leading them and encouraging them to be the best that they can be!

Teaching Philosophy

"What we learn with pleasure we never forget." -Alfred Mercier

My philosophy is based on my beliefs that education is a vital tool that teaches children the fundamental skills that are necessary to grow as competent and capable individuals. I believe every learner that enters my classroom is adequate and able to reach their goals. I want to be an educator that will support my students through their development of skills, socially, physically and emotionally. I will use their interests and abilities to assist them in gaining valuable knowledge while upholding the standards of the curriculum, allowing them to explore, learn and grow together. I strive for my classroom to be a positive learning environment where children feel respected and empowered. I want to motivate my students so they can reach their full potential by making mistakes and learning from them. Encourage risk-taking and authenticity to develop and shine a light on their unique talents. I want to make learning relevant to my students. Assist them in finding what they are interested in and discovering a love for learning in the same way I do.
A positive learning environment comes with a level of respect for each and everyone in the classroom. I want my students to develop positive attitudes toward each other in a way that will li their spirits and influence each other to become the best version of themselves. I want my students to learn to be patient with themselves and each other as we learn and grow, mentally and emotionally, as individuals in our classroom community. I will take the time to assist my students in understanding themselves and their emotions. As an educator, I value social-emotional learning, and as I strive to become an effective teacher for my students I will display the confidence and character I wish to see my students exude.
I want to celebrate the diversity and ability that each child brings to the classroom. Each student is influenced by a wide variety of personal, family, cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds. I will honour these differences and incorporate them to enrich the classroom by engaging in discussions and asking questions to develop critical thinking skills and strong relationships amongst the students and also their families. Thus creating a space for feedback to impact the growth of myself and the students as community and classroom members.
Growing up, I have been greatly influenced by my educators and mentors, because of them I have developed a strong pedagogy of teaching and have been given a toolkit full of knowledge to support it. With this, I am confident in my intentions for my classroom. As an educator, I am prepared to guide my students, create an inspiring learning environment for them, make them feel safe and secure and most importantly learn from them.

"TELL ME AND I️ FORGET
TEACH ME AND I️ REMEMBER
I️INVOLVE ME AND I️ LEARN"

- Benjamin Franklin

I love this quote as it speaks on the importance of participation and collaboration in the classroom. Teaching isn't as simple as repeating something over and over until it is memorized, it's about finding new ways to interpret the information and present it in a memorable way.
